All They Strat Protoype is that in itself, a Prototype, i.e., PROOF OF CONCEPT/WORKING PROTOTYPE. Companies do this all the time. Look at the auto industry. Every auto company has concept cars, and always those PROTOTYPES never make it to market, but many of the NEW IDEAS that are on the car prototypes are used in future cars. It is the same as software companies, except they use there users to beta test there prototype software. The same way GTE test the servers for a period of time before they go online. How good are the GTE people in every division? No matter what GTE Management PR's, they still give the Employees the control and time needed to do the job right. If not, they could have tested the original Strat and the results could have been a disaster. They could have just put the New servers online and had more problems. Anyone with experience with running servers knows that its not as easy as just plugging in a few wires and loading some software.
