CAT Caterpillar accused of fraud in government commissioned report, NY Times says
A report commissioned by the government that was authored by Leslie Robinson, an accounting professor at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College, accuses Caterpillar of carrying out tax and accounting fraud, reported The New York Times. The report has not been made public or made available to Caterpillar, no charges have been filed, and it is unclear if federal investigators intend to act on the findings, the Times noted. The company's tax practices have been a focus of government investigators since 2014 and the company has previously disclosed in filings that the IRS is seeking more than $2B in income taxes and penalties on profits earned by the company's Swiss subsidiary, the report added.
