Old saying but utterly inaccurate. Consider for example that virtually all of Buffett's investments have been blue chip, large cap, dividend payers... And he's worth $80 billion. He does use leverage, but he rarely puts money in deeply troubled businesses.
Another example: The Dow has far outperformed the NASDAQ's lowest tier stocks for many years.
