This is only speculation but what if the company is holding off on the news in order to drive the stock down. Then once the stock looses it's bid they release the news and a record amount of buying interest hits and record volume days happen. This would allow any entity that they may have an agreement with to buy shares at near bottom and the story begins from there.

I know...sounds like a dream. It would be one of those things I'd never forget about for life! LOL
