What if after the plethora of articles, AMEX is getting bombarded with inquiries from investors asking for an explanation of the delisting? This could have AMEX doing PR and backpeddling at the same time. It would also explain the timing. Laying everything out in detail and extending the timeframe appears to be a precaution against unexpected developments; are they pointing out why they did what they did (delist notice) before they came to know what they know (Sanswire testing)? It will also allow GTE to prepare a good case, since if they do not delist they will need adequate reasons not to. Call it spin or optimism, but that's my take.
