Strong 6: I'm not aware of any AZ patient in recorded trial history improving 4-6 points on an MMSE score after 57 weeks. I'd like to see evidence. Show us what you have. Small study or not, 'cherry picked data' implies that 4-6 point improvement in MMSE is in the realm of possibility after 57 weeks. I have not seen it. If even ONE person improved that much after this time period, it would be a remarkable occurrence, would it not? Let me guess, they didn't really have AZ?

----------------

Tell me what you make of the following?

" Progression of mild Alzheimer’s disease: knowledge and prediction models required for future treatment strategies"

"After one year, 23% of the remaining SATS participants with mild AD were globally improved and 38% unchanged, after two years, the proportions were 13% and 29%, respectively, and after three years,..."

6 of 27 = 22.22%

The improvement of "6" on the MMSE seems significant but this leads me to believe improvement on the MMSE in "Mild Alzheimer's" is not unheard of at 12 months and, if I am reading it correctly, up to 36 months for a small percentage. I can't find specific improvement percentages or scores actually listed though so again the magnitude of improvement is unclear.

Table 3 looks to me like ~55% of mild Alzheimer's patients either have an unchanged or improved score at 12 months although again the magnitude is not listed.

Statistics can be tricky, but this chart has me believing that although "average" MMSE scores decline some might actually improve. I'm open to being proven wrong on my interpretation of the data though.
