Do oil companies ever crush small but potentially huge ideas ... like electric cars http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Who_Killed_the_Electric_Car%3F ? Every day they can delay a shift is billions $$, the same is true in the this industry. To put all blame for GTE's struggles is a bit much, but to suggest that there are outside influences working against the company is by NO means a shot in the dark or purely theory! IMO
