There is nullity proceeding in Germany. This should not be confusied with the prior civil action MaxD took. The nullity proceeding concerns the question of the patent. The question there is whether the claims made in the patent can be justified. This is like the inter partes review before the USPTO.
(By the way, conflicts are often settled, but the settlement concerns the wording of the claims. Parties will tailor claims to avoid conflict, if possible, and I think that's what was being proposed in the gossipy settlement stories told)
