Well said. My experience studying holding companies in my MBA program was that their business plan is to acquire companies for the purpose of generating assets, both liquid and illiquid. In the case of The subsidiary WMB,the holding company would retain brick and mortar assets (bank buildings) and all liquid assets from the banking operations. This would would be in addition to all of the other subs the bank owned which for a holding company the size of WMI would number in the hundreds. I would be very surprised if the FDIC is not holding at least 100 Billion of WMI assets (liquid and illiquid.jmo of course.
