The only past trials that have continued after a DMC Stop recommendation that I know of were because the studies had relatively small samples (in the hundreds, so relatively few events) and they wanted more data before stopping. The results were significant but they continued. In one case, results were no longer significant by the time the study ended (that is why they are so cautious about interim analyses).
