The Hillcrest Labs patents maybe separate from the IDCC patents as you point out, but one thing is for sure if LG or ZTE mobile phones has a Hillcrest chip on board or their software and has been licenced by Hillcrest for use then it can surely aid in negotiations between LG/ZTE etc. and IDCC now that IDCC owns Hillcrest. The old "how can we further this relationship" ploy:)

On the other hand it may also drive a wedge between the parties and cause LG & ZTE to look for alternatives AJMO.

LG & ZTE could approach Google and ask for a "cheap" license to replace Hillcrest Technology (Oculus buy out). I just don't see that taking place. JMO
