Ya can't eat cotton or tobacco (well, you can eat tobacco, butt you won't like it).

And it would make you sick. Eat enough at one sitting, and it could kill you. Saw an episode about that on a favorite guilty pleasure, Untold Stories of the ER. Grandma accidentally threw a handful of tobacco leaves into a stew she made for a family dinner, with unfortunate results. But the brave ER staff saved them all, as soon as they figured out what the problem was.
