Japanese casino bill passes key parliamentary panel, Reuters reports
Japanese lawmakers in a key upper house committee approved the Bill For The Promotion Of Integrated Resort Facilities, meaning the casino approval bill is almost certain to be approved by the full chamber on Wednesday given the Abe coalition's strong majority in the upper house, reported Reuters earlier. The bill will allow for large-scale projects that combine casinos with hotel, shopping and conference space and Tokyo, Yokohama and Osaka are in the running as potential locations, the report noted. Publicly traded companies in the casino space include Melco Crown (MPEL), Boyd Gaming (BYD), Caesars (CZR), Las Vegas Sands (LVS), MGM Resorts (MGM), Penn National (PENN) and Wynn Resorts (WYNN).
