In my opinion, he responded so that people would not blow up his account and repeatedly ask questions about what is going on. Denying knowledge and downplaying everything means people will not bark up that tree. I don't blame him...it's pretty genius. He doesn't get bothered and has no chance of being accused of giving out information (not any info at all) about a pending deal. He didn't get where he's at by chance. He's smart.
