The last rumor from the office of Ms. Chua Sock Koong CEO Singapore Telecom is this. The BOD is carefully watching the legal proceedings against Trustwave their 97% owned US subsidary.
Because of this majority ownership stake they are liable for any treble damages Blank Rome may win. They are also fully aware of their latest balance sheet showing $92 billion in assets. They're sharp businessmen and businesswomen. They know that greenmail works. A one billion dollar buyout offer would be hard for Mark Kay to refuse. One billion dollars is small change to them in light of the fact they would then hold all US patents and soon the international one. They may in fact be waiting for that to be granted before they make their move. Then they would be well positioned, already having a US subsidiary and Manhattan office to enter the US market. I imagine they would offer the same type of mobile banking cyber security services they rolled out in Asia just last month. They already are Asia's largest telecom provider so this might make sense to them.
