Even if the app did what it purports to do, a listener couldn't tell the difference unless they both had a golden ear and they were using high-end speakers.

$150 headphones let alone $20 earbuds coming off a generic cell phone DAC simply have a very low limit of sound fidelity, a limit which is already reached by regular 192kb MP3s.

Science similarly debunks the value of 24bit/192khz digital audio... humans simply cannot perceive the increased range... yet many people swear the $400 music player they bought to play those files sounds better. Probably because they spent $400 on it.

Music DOES subjectively sound better: when it's remastered, when it's equalized to listener tastes, and when the volume is raised.
