The stars are lining up for IDCC, but the timing is still an issue. We will have numerous licenses for 5g because we are in a pot with major companies who have multiple licensees. Our cut is unknown, but the magnitude of the chips necessary to produce standards compliant terminals is astonishing. Cars, appliances, surgeries etc will be terminals under the wireless system. Further, units will be available that will allow people in multiple locations to shop together, go to events together, attend classes with children located 1000 miles away and have holiday parties with people around the world. They are teaching robots to think and reason like humans. In other words, the robot will not just regurgitate, it will create. My pet line in speeches to engineers is that they will go home early one day and find the household robot in bed with their wives. Watch out for little Robby when he draws the bath water for the females in your house. If Robby snaps a towel on their behinds as they are going to the tub, you probably have a problem when you leave your house. Robby can find the "G" spot a lot quicker than you and women are already accustomed to electronics for leisurely relaxation. These robots will be the first responders, police and soldiers. A massive amount of chips will be required for wireless communication and the pooling of the patents being used to create all goods and services will be very profitable for the inventors. It remains a mystery when this new world will be a functional reality, but the science is moving quickly. The day a company like IDCC can receive a piece of the whole pie is the day the share price will take off with predictable recurring revenue creating the multiples we have been seeking for years. I just hope I am alive long enough to see the products unfold. Once this hits, IDCC can assign its rights to 3 and 4G to some red mouthed litigation group to recover royalty from past usage of the patent portfolio receiving 50% of the proceeds for increasing dividends and the like. The need for a licensing team will vanish.
