Ed Randell, former Gov of PA and long-time friend of Bill and Hillary, urged Clinton campaign headquarters in Brooklyn NY to send the candidate to more areas in PA other than just Phila and Pittsburgh. Bill Clinton urged Robby Mook, Mrs. Clinton's campaign manager, to do more outreach with working-class and rural voters. But his advice fell on deaf ears.

Which in a sense is odd. Clinton initially won her NY Senate seat in good part because as soon as she declared, she went on a "listening tour" to rural parts of the state. Those people felt neglected and misunderstood, and she decided to get to know them and to ask about their problems. That was a highly successful initiative.

She should have considered doing the same this time round. But of course when you have the whole country to campaign in, it's not easy to decide which parts will ultimately be more important.

From the article, "although she vowed to help the little guy, she accepted millions of dollars for Wall Street speeches" - a total disconnect.

Everybody takes money from Wall Street. I've really never understood why this was considered important. I know that if Goldman offered ME $250K to give a speech, I'd accept with pleasure. And I think that goes for about 99% of the population. At the time she did it, she hadn't yet decided whether to run for the presidency.

And certainly Trump is no poster child for middle class striving. He isn't even a Horatio Alger story. He was born to money and made more money, often off the backs of his employees and contractors.
