The change to Cadmium free caught Nanosys off guard there is no denying it. And what has Nanoco done to date? They have always been focused on Cad-free, I haven't seen a display with their dots yet have you? QMC may have been able to produce Cad-free but as mentioned in Sri's newsletter there are multiple qualities the product needs to meet customer film demands.
So, why haven’t we captured this opportunity yet? That’s because our products had not yet fully met all our, or our
customers, expectations for performance, quantum yield or other key parameters. We have achieved each of these
parameters individually but not all of them at the same time. That being said, in the past few weeks we have made
samples that hold great promise - and we have done this without using cadmium in our chemistry! In addition, we
can make products via our manufacturing process, which is substantially lower in cost and drives higher throughput
than traditional production methodologies. Our goal is to produce a better product than our competition at a lower
cost point. We believe we are on a direct path to achieving this goal.
