India manufactures and is stand alone. When India started up, the Indiana plant supplied them with some materials until they could set up their own supply chains.
Many of the parts of the SolarMills are purchased from manufacturers. In Indiana, Solar Panels are purchased from "best bid" suppliers, Inverters from a company in California (??), Rotor & Bearing units are a unit purchased from another manufacturer. The helical turbine blades are made in the plant and just requires a special sheet metal press. The painting, assembly and packaging are done in plant.
I don't know who the Solar Panel supplier is for India. I also don't know who supplies them the inverter unit. That is really critical for the units to work well and cannot just be thrown into the MILL. The efficiency of the Mill is greatly affected by that component.
With all Solar sales WAY WAY down over the whole world wide industry, it is difficult to say what is happening with world solar energy demand. Even First Solar is cutting back and layed off some workers. All that must affect Windstream far greater.
