Doesn't necessarily mean that the licensed patent is tied to the lump sum. The lump sum could be for the initial settlement money itself.

Not to mention licenses expire! My license currently expires about a year from now, so this 9 million you say is part of the licencing deal seems very much off considering that it costs 30 bucks for 2 machines (at least for GuardedId)
