He was founder and CEO of the largest AIDS clinic on the West Coast treating 50k patients in the late 80s and early 90s. He then invented (as in patents) a rapid HIV test followed by establishing Saliva Diagnostics to develop and clinically test the product.

Prior to the 80s he was with the Army medical corps and then went into private practice specializing in virology. At that same time he was on the teaching faculty of UCLA. So, you're right. He has not published any research papers that I know of.
