Your conclusion is only one hypothesis:

I would think a potential partner would want input on how the trial is being run especially if they are footing the bill. This leads me to believe we may be going it alone.

The fact that they just added Ariana's testing platform without any discussion of costs or contract deal tells me that a future partner may already be involved and is influencing this new procedure. I doubt if Anavex was planning to go it alone that they would be adding this layer to the process. IMO
