ORDER denying without prejudice 43 Defendants' Motion for Protective Order. The party seeking a protective order must demonstrate good cause, and must make "a particular and specific demonstration of fact as distinguished from stereotyped and conclusory statements" supporting the need for a protective order. See U.S. v. Garrett, 571 F.2d 1323, 1326 n. 3 (5th Cir. 1978). Here, Defendants' proposed protective order amounts to nothing other than a blanket order of protection that would result in every single document exchanged in discovery being protected from disclosure to anyone other than a small subset of individuals involved in this lawsuit. Defendants fail to make the requisite showing of good cause under Rule 26(c) to warrant such a broad order of protection. For instance, Defendants have not described with specificity any trade secrets or other confidential information they seek to protect. In the absence of such specifics, the Court finds no reasonable basis to depart from its general policy favoring public access to the Court record. Signed by U.S. Magistrate Judge Dave Lee Brannon on 9/14/2016. (jrz) (Entered: 09/14/2016)
