Mandate?...consider if Nok delays 2G deal for a year or so, the fair chance that Ericy will exit handset business by then precludes then using a 3G Ericy deal to force a 3G Nok rate.
I.e. should Ericy sellout its interest to Sony, there would be left no viable Ericy to set a 3G handset rate to force a Nok rate.
As IR confirmed to me months ago, the Nok contract for 3G is similar to 2G...if none of the 'named leading manufacturers' takes a license, there is nothing to force Nok to ever agree to a rate.
The most recent CC fronted by JP, starring Mr.InsiderDumper with backup by Mild Bill Merritt, was poorly-acted bravado without useful facts. The ignored absence of HG hopefully is not the result of the reality-check delivered by Nok...his well-being is important. And GH had something better to do?
IDCC continues to play victim of effects caused by others. They lost another opportunity to move over from being defensive to being causative...from being nice to being effective. Reasonableness with fear of straight-talk is the stuff of doormats and self-made traps.
Allowing Nok to accumulate 2G 'debt' of $100s of Millions was foolish and amateur positioning...no owed amounts of that scale will ever be paid without a serious fight. The magnitude of $100s of Millions is simply beyond the limits of 'honor' of any businessman, and Jorma is only that...his grooming pre-Nokia was strictly as a financial-accounts manager. redhot
