Think of all the biotechs with no revenues burning through cash like crazy that have market caps of $100-300 million. Some are only in Phase II and have never had revenues. So a stock doesn't just sit with a market cap of 50K, then when the sales come in, it goes to $3 billion market cap in one day. People buy in anticipation of the potential.
