What has to be included in the consideration is the violence of the trading on Friday, and the follow up on Monday...Both days the stock traded over 10 X the average daily volume and the price was up over 10%..What perplexed me was the apparent inclusion of a number of other small biotechs who had somewhat similar price and volume actions (pointed out by Flying Fish). This suggested some sort of re balancing, or a concerted effort to squeeze short sellers...Neither one of them made much sense..Monday's action reversed a lot of the other small biotechs..raising the possibility that this action was a smoke screen... designed to cover the AMRN action.

I understand this sounds contrived, but the whole episode is fairly bizarre and someone once said.."When you eliminate the likely causes, then you must consider the unlikely".

IMO..We can eliminate the "simple decision" possibility on the grounds that "instituional investors" don't, under any normal circumstances buy precipitously, because it drives the price up against themselves. The idea is to establish your position first and then drive the market up. This suggest that who ever is involved here was in a hurry..or sensed some deadline in the near future. The announcement of the DMC recommendation date IMO is not IMO a strong enough reason for this type of buying...If someone knew the DMC was going to recommend halting the trial for efficacy...That would be reason enough...Please understand here..this information would not necessarily come from the company. The company in all likelihood is in the same position we are in, not knowing. This information would be coming from someone involved in the DMC process..

Understand..this is merely conjecture on my part and I have no direct information this is the case. However if this is the correct, the market action suggest R-I will be halted for efficacy and this should occur fairly soon...
