Does the fact that many other biotech stocks (with similar price patterns) saw the same type of short squeeze price action on the last day of the month mean that bets were also being placed that their trials will be halted? LOL..

While I'm hopeful R-I will be halted for the wonderful reasons you have explained, I don't think Friday's move was anything more than shorts losing the battle at resistance (remember the 'Blue sky'?) on the last day of the month when funds loaded up on the best monthly performers. In addition, the IBB broke triple resistance; trendline + down channel + 200MA.
JMHO
