Mav is not a native English speaker - which is a huge handicap esp for writing which is by far the most advanced language skill (as a former ESL professional, I know this), and especially if you try to write with any speed. I write OK Japanese (it's a lot easier with computer input to go from phonetic input to kanji) but ***slow*** as hell. Mav obviously writes fast and can be a bit hard to follow but he's a very smart cookie, so it's up to you to follow him or not and it's your loss if you can't figure out what he's telling you. I usually find it quite worth the effort.
