IMHO NW was pointed to NWBO via Malicky. Then NWBO did minimal dd via his staff and went in full throttle due to the UK approval and the previous German approval and $5M grant didn't hurt his decision either. Then when the Phase V report came out shareholders reading the boards probably contacted him and/or Katherine the Wolf got his ear on her experience with NWBO and everything changed, he became very concerned and fear made him panic and panic made him try to force arm the company to clean up its act so he would look good with his shareholders. He lost face when LP said no.
Again this is all my opinion but it explains things very well.
He cut off his nose inspite his face. and with shellack of his financial support we all suffer.
