IMO-Mergers and acquisitions is the name of the game as 3g takes hold in wireless worldwide.Do you really see IDCC slugging it out piecemeal over the next 4-5 years or is the handwriting on the wall for the company to be acquired.Once the Sam arb decision is rendered and the amount owed established, essentially IDCC is unemcumbered and offers a clean balance sheet with a powerful patent portfolio to be available to the highest bidder.A consortium of licensees may deem that it is less expensive to buy out the R&D firm than to pay licensing fees and that the cross licensing options the portfolio brings is more than worth it.What is the time value of money to the shareholders, not to mention the uncertainties of the markets, the world and new technologies.The way our stock price can be whip-sawed on no meaningful news is another reason that we should look at another approach to monetizing our assets by presenting our value as an enterprise value to the M&A market. I don't know what a fair price would be, but it is time to find out. Would appreciate comments.
