That is no necessarily true.

A doctor can prescribe any combination of FDA approved drugs. Assuming Anavex 2-74 is approved and I do assume that, then since donpezil is current FDA approved, a doctor can prescribe the combination of Anavex 2-73 and donepzil just like that used in the trial once Anavex 2-73 is FDA approved.

ANAVEX PLUS would have been a capsule or tablet that combined Anavex 2-73 plus donepzil as a compound drug mixture.

The most likely design for the next trial for Anavex 2-73 will have all patients enrolled in the trial getting donezezil and half of those patients also getting Anavex 2-73 while the other half gets donepezil and a placebo. That would be an ethically designed trial for patients with Alzheimer's disease. Half would get the current standard of care and half would get the standard of care in combination with Anavex 2-73. This would be a double blinded randomized trial.

It will be easy to show the efficacy of Anavex 2-73.
