Personally if I were a big company, I wouldn't wait for big sales/revenues to buy out the company.

All that means is much higher value and much higher asking price.

I would put together a team of my people, buy the software for $20 or whatever and tell them to have fun for a little while. Find out its strong points, look for weaknesses, look for room for improvement, consider what it could be worth after making the necessary changes, and if it could be a good asset to the company, make an offer to purchase it at a far cheaper price than waiting for SFOR to develop a name for themselves.
