When you register a mark it has to be publicly available for anyone who might want to oppose it. It's published in the "gazette" for a period of time. After a search, the patent office identified MCIG as a potential opponent to the mark because of their similar mark and prior involvement. Its doesn't mean MCIG is opposing, just that they were concerned MCIG might be an opposing party.

Now since we know Paul Rosenberg signed over the rights to the mark there will be no legal basis for opposition...he did it on purpose. When the time for opposition closes it will be Al Santos mark to defend against any intrusion.
