GM overseas: General Motors 2Q Global Sales Rise 8.7 Percent, Chevrolet Moving in Emerging Markets
DETROIT (AP) -- General Motors Corp. said Friday global sales from April to June rose 8.7 percent to 2.4 million vehicles, lifted by sales of Chevrolet and Saab.
GM's global market share was 14.5 percent at the end of June.
Global sales of Chevrolet rose 13 percent over the previous quarter to more than 128,000 autos, led by growth in emerging markets like Brazil (up 13 percent), China (up 81 percent), India and Russia (both up 47 percent).
The car maker posted sales increases for Chevrolet in its markets around the world: up 40 percent in Asia Pacific, 15 percent higher in Latin America, a 12 percent increase in the Middle East, and a 12 percent improvement in Europe.
