I agree with Texman, the technology can even be sold at for example a billion dollars...as the market demands. The five million dollars that Mary had ON THE OPTION was only to protect themselves... to pay the least/fair value to the shareholders on the technology they developed. They did not want to overprice themselves and at the same time the 5 mill option gave them a bargaining tool ....if someone offered eg 80 mill and they did not want that, they could still say ..hey we dont want this, give us a better price, we can still get that at 5 mill and go away with your 80 mill. in short the 5 mill was not to over charge themselves on the deal and also to bargain in case they were not happy with a buyout offer.
