Since the Red Sox didn't take out insurance on Pablo Sanoval's contract, perhaps the hospital can offer them 50% off on lap band surgery.

Boston Red Sox third baseman Pablo Sandoval, a $95 million free agent who lost his starting job before going on the disabled list, will have surgery on his left shoulder.

If Sandoval indeed misses the entire season, the Red Sox are on the hook for his entire $17 million salary because his contract is not insured, according to Fox Sports.
