I started on SI looong ago, then migrated mostly to RB, and then to iHub.

I had many a text-based chat with Emil Sanielevici (aka Grandelf or Grand_elf) on RB's old Osicom (FIBR) message board (and possibly SI too), where a career con man named Par Chadha had a SPNG-like pennystock rig based on an optical switch for telecom called 'Gigamux' - FIBR even claimed to have had one installed at the Belgian phone company, Belgecom.

One of my colleagues at the time was an optical engineer with a Ph.D. in physics with his thesis in the optics area. The 'Gigamux' was pure garbage, butt it was a great prop to sell Par's constantly issued-to-hisself stock during the go-go Dotbomb era.

Emil was a strong promoter of Osicom, even though he was nott compensated to tout it. He believed in the unicorn and chose to ignore Par Chadha's history of crookedness and other evidence that Osicom was just a thinly-veiled pennystock scam and nothing else.

Emil was a smart kid, butt very naive about the world. He was murdered in a famous (at the time) mass killing at a Pittsburgh McDonalds while waiting in the drive through lane. Osicom as expected went bankrupt and disappeared after Par Chadha had looted tens of millions from it and left.

Here are a couple of items about Emil and his murder. His last name is pronounced 'Sanilevitch'.
