"These initial results form a baseline from which we can now begin to optimize the performance of this prototype device. We expect that once the processes are fine tuned in our prototype, we should see electro-optic (EO) activity in the area of 60 picometers/volt and we will continue to make improvements to achieve even higher electro-optic activity. Material with this level of activity will enable us to develop modulators with high-speed performance superior to current commercial modulators.

"Our ultimate purpose is to demonstrate the ability of our polymer systems to modulate light in a telecom application before moving into high-value ultra miniaturized devices like the slot waveguide modulator to address the larger datacom opportunity."


I presume this means we are now in the "active" testing phase, correct?
