The Golden Age Comics potential IMO could be an incredible hook that may not be realized. I know others have already brought up how great this idea is, so I thought I'd try and do some digging to add some statistics to the mix of this "potentially" untapped area.

First let me say, I am definitely not an expert on comics, and or the apps. I enjoy them, but I'm the casual reader from time to time - although, very hooked on Tesla (too bad I'm still waiting for it to become a regular). What I want to share is just something that came to me after remembering a radio news story that was talking about the fastest growing users of social media, and especially facebook. They said it was people ages 65 and older. This led me to do some looking into tonight about what that was about. Well, these two links tell a lot about the potential.
pewintenet research: demographics of social media users

department of health and human services - administration on aging

graphicpolicy website - comic books and political policy - link to demographics

http://graphicpolicy.com/tag/facebook-fandom/

I added the links because these share how many people are in the U.S. aged 65+ and also using facebook but then also how many potentially are connected to comics, according to the graphic policy.

Basically, about half of all adults aged 65+ are using social media (i.e. facebook) according to pew. As of 2013 there were 44.7 million adults in the U.S. aged 65+, according to U.S. department of health and human services - administration on aging. Taking it a step further - graphic policy puts this out "It’s the first of the month, and first of the year, and that means a new look at the demographics of people who “like” comics on Facebook. This data is compiled using demographic data from Facebook, and is limited to the United States." Which if I am reading it correctly, showed usage of aged 46+ at just under 40 million. I will also add this quote from the article as well "This data is important in that it shows who the potential comic audience could be. This is not purchasers, these are people who have shown an affinity but for comics and are potential purchasers and those with an interest."

My whole point of showing this is to point out that The untapped market of Golden Age readers could potentially be a major factor. Once the app is up and running and on the market, it would not take much to get it into the hands of those adults in those age categories. I am not saying all will buy into the app but even a fraction of that is pretty substantial.

Curious to know what others think about this. It is all just ideas and opinions as we all know, but definitely interesting to think about. thanks for taking to the time to read - all ideas/thoughts are appreciated. Have a great week everyone. thedocg
