originunknown: a great handle for Saturday Night wrestling. A great trick for pulling weeds is to hose down the area well, before starting. Even dandelions come up by the root. Russian thistle is the toughest. The only chemical that I'll use is Salt of Glyphosate (Roundup). It's biodegradable and can be used exclusively upon certain plants. For example, poison ivy has tender and endless roots and is tough to pull out and many folk have issues with touching it. Some detergent added to double strength SOG will allow the solution to stick to the leaves.

I'd rather lose 3% of crops and/or flowers to pests than to use unsafe chemicals.

"When in doubt, empty the clip."
