BOSTON (AP) -- The Boston Red Sox purchased left-hander Craig Breslow's contract from Triple-A Pawtucket on Thursday.
Left-hander Lenny DiNardo was moved from the 15- to 60-day disabled list to make room on the 40-man roster for Breslow. Righty Jason Johnson was optioned to the minors earlier in the week, opening a spot for Breslow.
Breslow, who went to Yale, was 0-0 with a 2.20 ERA in 14 games for the San Diego Padres last season. He went 5-1 with five saves and a 3.40 ERA in 26 relief appearances at Pawtucket this year and was selected to the Triple-A All-Star game.
