You have no idea if it's helping patients. You won't know definitely until the trial is over. What if it doesn't help patients, what if all of the wild positive speculation convinced a patient to get into a trial that didn't work and they didn't have the chance to join a trial that did have some benefit, how will you feel then??

Look at IMUC and their hype after their Phase I of extending OS by 35 months, only to show a very, very small benefit in the Phase 2, how do you feel for those patients? Nobody could care less. We're talking about an unproven therapy. I can tell you for certain that many more patients have enrolled into trials that thought they would receive benefit from and didn't, than the other way around.
