TheStreet and AF are already on LP's radar. After the formal investigation is complete, it would not surprise me in the least if NWBO brought some form of civil action against those miscreants.

It would be fairly obvious to a judge or jury how targeted and misleading those attacks are (today being another laughable example) - the key is drawing a linkage between the attacks and those that financially benefit. The level of sophistication that's going into the investigation provides a chance to make that linkage.
