I just rec'd an unsolitied call from a "Jr Associate" from Charles Morgan named Jacob who wanted to discuss investment opportunities with me. Don't know where or how he got my name, but I almost hung up on the guy when he told me that he was not going to try and sell me anything (yeah right), but I decided to give him a few minutes of my time on a slow Friday.
What he told me next I found VERY INTERESTING and need some assistance from you fellow GTE longs. He told that he company is usually involved with small start up companies helping them become larger entities through things like private placement and investment offerings. Here is where I fell off the chair. The company he mentioned as a example was GTE and asked if I had every heard of it. I said yes and was currently a shareholder and he asked what I thought of GTE's performance. I tried very hard to hide my dissatisfaction but did mention that the share price had falled from a first day AMEX price of $3.64 to a current price of $1.09. When asked why the price had fallen to these levels if this was a good investment he said that he was basicall a "rookie" on these type of dealings and maybe I should ask to those questions to a "partner" of Charles Morgan that had worked with GTE and its mgmt team. The partner's name is PERRY YOUNGER. The associate asked if I would like to talk to Perry and if so, Jacob would have him call me since was out of the office for remainder of the day. I requested that Perry call me Monday morning.
Here is where I need some help from others.
1. Does GTE have a past relation with Charles Morgan and if so, what was / is the nature of this relationship and when was it?
2. Has any body else rec'd a similar call from this Company?
3. I am going to play the game a little with Perry and need to know if there are any specific type of questions need to asked.
4. One that sticks out like a sore thumb is the term Private Placement. Just a wild thought, but could this be a possible hint of a future deal with one of GTE's "profitable divisions" maybe doing an IPO? Now that would be NICE, huh??
I don't know if I can get any past association with GTE from Perry or what if any thing about GTE that is future oriented, but will certainly try.
Any input on knowlede of past involvement with Charles Morgan Co (based out of NY) or specific questions that you may want me to try and get answers to, please pass them along over the weekend. As mentioned, I should get a call mid-morning and will do some digging and report back what I am told.
