it is sad. but to ignore things like the puffery defence and the financial statements is to be willfully ignorant.

basically, i think the large majority of wave's investors didn't follow the company so much as awk's interpretation of the value of the technology.

awk got it. and so did they. only in fact, few of them did. you can tell by looking at the sales. it's simpler than they made it. valuable technologies generate sales.
