UCLA is a University Hospital that uses many advanced therapies in addition to standard of care for their survival numbers. I'd go there if I had a brain tumor. That's why their numbers exceed SOC.

The Stupp trial statistics from 2006 are from the time of surgery.

The exact same Stupp protocol today has almost exactly the same PFS and survival, except that they are measuring from the time of randomization after 6 weeks chemoradiation and some additional time adding up to about 10 weeks.

** So, thanks mostly to Dr. Stupps, we went from about 10.5 months OS (post-chemoradiation randomization) before 2005/2006, to 12.5 months (post- chemoradiation randomization) after adding Temodar to chemoradiation. A gain of 2 to 2.5 months.

** Then, by simply getting better at surgery and radiation, to about 14.7 months (post-chemoradiation randomization). Another gain of about 2 months.

** Then, thanks to Dr. Stupps again, with electrical field therapy, we gained maybe 2 more months, but he claims 5 months, but he eliminated fast progressors from his trial and kept in pseudoprogressors.

Either way, even using Dr. Stupp's numbers, once the trial matured, we are still under 20 months median OS, but that number for the average overall GBM population even with Optune is still more like 17.5 months (post-chemoradiation).

Between adding Temodar, better surgical and radiation techniques, and adding TTF fields, researchers improved median OS by about 7 months over the past decade. (17.5 months median OS post-chemoradiation)

UCLA has increased median OS by using experimental techniques by as much as about 7 more months, if you go to their program when diagnosed with GBM. (24 months post-chemoradiation)

Therefore, it would be a blessing if NWBO can improve upon these numbers by a significant amount. Perhaps a year or more for the overall GBM group beyond the median UCLA has otherwise already accomplished with their advanced clinical/experimental program.
