I believe you are watching the video with an implied bias. When I watch LL in the video and listen to her words I get a completely different take than you, how could that be, since you are so sure about your interpretation.?
I get the sense that she is apologizing, that the trial is unfortunately endless, it is extended without an end in sight and for that she she apologizes because she can't differentiate between those that are given the placebo versus those patients given the vaccine.
She is pleased for her patients but she realizes it may confound the trial i.e. take much longer than anticipated.
Think about this if it were coming out as anticipated i.e. if she saw unfortunate deaths and patients living longer she could surmise something is working for those that live which is what she probably expected and she knows everyone else hoped to expect. after she is a Doctor and she wants to prevent death anyway she can so she is in a tough situation working in the trial and all. That is why she seems quite uncomfortable.
