The good one? Yes, said there were connections but that I was not connected. The various connections shown want a secret code to activate any of them.

At some point and time when that laptop was set up with your wifi router who ever did initial setup made up a code name with your router.

That is what allows them to connect to each other.

Depending on your router software you might be able to go to the router page and get it back.

On my computer I go to start and pull up the programs and look for the router brand then go from there.

Once I put in my ID with my router page it shows me all that info.

Other alternative is to get your router name and model number and google how do I change the code.

That should get you to your router manufacture booklet.

If you aren't comfortable doing this look on craigslist in the services section and scan the computer section for mobile repair.

There is a real good chance they could walk you through it over the phone also.

You might look up your router manufactures number for a help line.
Call them tomorrow and have them walk you through it.

Have faith in yourself. You can do this.

Thing is with a laptop maybe you don't really need it to go places anymore but sure is nice to sit in front of the TV and be on the computer and watch sports or whatever in a comfortable chair.
