HP Pavillion Laptop, Gave up after 11months on HP customer service? and took it to a local repair shop.... reinstalled windows XP and replaced the 256K DrAM.. WHICH WAS THE WHOLE PROBLEM...THEY SHIPPED IT THAT WAY FROM CHINA. Had to be no other explanation.

Working great now but not tried wireless mode yet.
